Govan

Washington's ghost towns are mill towns and mining camps in country so green the forest is already taking them back.

Govan is an unincorporated community in Lincoln County, in US state of Washington. An abandoned schoolhouse, post office and grain elevator, along with a few houses, both deserted and occupied, are all that remains of the town. It is considered to be a ghost town.

Govan survives as partial ruins — standing walls, collapsed roofs, and the bones of a town that once was. Ruin sites can be hazardous: watch for open shafts, unstable masonry, and wildlife sheltering in debris. Bring sturdy boots and photograph from safe distances.
