The story of Cambridge Junction

Michigan's ghost towns are copper and iron towns of the Upper Peninsula, plus lumber camps the pine barons abandoned.

Cambridge Junction Historic State Park is a historical preservation area 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Brooklyn in Cambridge Township, Michigan, that includes Walker Tavern, a major stopping place for stagecoaches traveling between Detroit and Chicago in the early nineteenth century. The tavern is operated seasonally by the Michigan History Center.

Cambridge Junction was a railroad name through and through — the kind of place that existed because the timetable said so.

What you'll find today

Nobody has confirmed the access situation, so treat any visit as reconnaissance: verify land ownership first, and be ready to admire from the road.
